Stranger at the door || Ferdinand and Snow

The Queen had notice things were taken longer than expected. She got out of the carriage to give orders. “Surround the cottage. Do not let them leave.”
As the men walked around, the Queen kept her eyes open for any sign of the girl. As she looked up, one of her men threw a sword into the bushes. Escorted by the head guard, she rushed over and saw Snow White staring in horror at the object in the ground.
“Hello, my dear.” said the Queen, half smirking.
Snow’s heart felt as though it were going to leap from her chest and deliver itself to the Queen. She tried unsuccessfully to slow her breathing for a minute before setting her shoulders and turning to face her enemy. Seeing the guards that accompanied the Queen was certainly intimidating, but Snow was determined not to be the weak girl her stepmother believed her to be. She looked her directly in the eyes and held her gaze. The tension in the air could have been cut with a knife. Oh, don’t think about knives. Nobody spoke for a long time. Snow and the Queen were locked in a staredown that seemed to last an eternity. Finally, Snow spoke.
“So. You’ve found me out. Since your huntsman has a heart, something you clearly wish to deny me, I suppose you’ve dealt harshly with him and have come to finish the job.” She raised one eyebrow. “Well, go right ahead. I’m not afraid of you.”
She laughed, throwing her cape back and taking a step forward. “Now, now, my dear Snow White. I have not come here to harm you.” The Queen stopped halfway between her guard and Snow. She eyed the boy standing next to her. “I see you’ve made a friend.” With that, all of the Queen’s guards all took a step forward, making their presence know.
